Podcast BSB-817: Recovery of tourism in the Republic of Moldova, after the pandemic
In this podcast, Veaceslav Ioniță, expert in business development within the cross-border project “Development and promotion of green tourism in the Danube sector of the Black Sea basin (Cahul district, Republic of Moldova, Reni territorial community, Ukraine, and Galați county, Romania) says that among all branches of the Moldovan national economy, tourism was the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. The HoReCa sector, whose activity is largely based on tourist activities, has been affected without precedent. Currently, after the cancellation of the restrictions, the tourism branch is in a process of rapid recovery, and in 2022 it will most likely be possible to recover the fall caused by the pandemic. The expert claims that during the pandemic the guesthouses in the Republic of Moldova benefited from an unprecedented opportunity. Moldovans did not have the opportunity to go abroad for rest, but they visited and rested in Moldovan guesthouses. At the same time, he mentioned that in the first quarter of 2022 there was a fairly rapid recovery of tourists, including foreigners, staying on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
