Podcast BSB-817: Pensions can be the engine of the development of the tourism sector in the Republic of Moldova
The tourism sector in the Republic of Moldova is little developed. Although it has a growth potential of at least 50% compared to what it is today, especially the development of guesthouses, only 0.9% of the population works in the given field. Veaceslav Ioniță, expert in business administration of the BSB-817 project, says in this podcast that tourism is the only branch of the economy that can provide jobs in the rural area. According to the expert, rural tourism during the crisis, generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, was the only one that survived. According to the expert, the Republic of Moldova in 2019, before the pandemic, had 375 thousand tourists, both foreign and local.
